Overview
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Advertising Sales & Distribution Representative to join the Island Treasure Maps team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth for print and digital publications through direct engagement with clients, focusing on B2B opportunities. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying market needs, establishing relationships, and providing tailored solutions that help our St. Thomas businesses succeed.

Sales Duties

• Conduct direct sales activities, including in-person visits, networking, social media connections and cold calling to generate new business leads.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through effective account management. Maximize renewal rates for current advertisers.
• Deliver engaging product demonstrations that showcase the value of our tourist maps and print / digital guidebooks.
• Collaborate with the sales manager and Island Treasure Maps owners to create targeted sales strategies and achieve team goals.
• Collect payments from advertisers who are past due or prefer to pay in person.
• Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions.
• Provide feedback on market trends and competitive landscape to help refine product offerings and business development strategies.

Distribution Duties

• Weekly St. Thomas printed map distribution, including logging, photo proof of delivery, setting up displays and inventory management. You'll need your own car for this work, and will be reimbursed for gas expenses related to distribution efforts.
• Recruit new distribution points from key target businesses - transportation hubs, hotels, property managers, car rental agencies, tour companies.
• Grow the total number of maps utilized by St. Thomas visitors, and eliminate waste from print materials that are not picked up.
• Receive twice-yearly shipments of printed publications at Crown Bay, and coordinate delivery drivers and assistance to move those to storage.

Skills

• Proven experience in direct sales, particularly in a B2B environment.
• Deep local knowledge of St. Thomas, including the tourism industry and businesses that serve visitors to the island.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage new prospects via in-person visits and cold calls.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, with the desire to grow the reach and visibility of our Maps and Guidebooks to St. Thomas visitors and grow personal income alongside that.
• Experience in conducting product demos that resonate with diverse audiences.
• Excellent account management skills, with a focus on building long-term client relationships.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing publication distribution.
• Physically able to lift and carry small / mid-sized boxes of publications to our clients and displays.
