Aerospace grinder operator sets up and operates various types of grinding machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering specifications. They are responsible for inspecting finished parts for accuracy and conformance to quality standards, using precision measuring instruments and tools. This role also involves routine maintenance of equipment and adherence to safety protocols in a manufacturing environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Setup and Operation: Setting up and operating grinding machines (including thread, internal, centerless, external, and surface grinders) to produce parts to precise specifications. 

• Quality Control: Inspecting parts for dimensional accuracy and surface finish using precision measuring tools like calipers and micrometers. 

• Material Handling: Handling and moving materials, including loading and unloading parts from grinders, potentially with the assistance of conveyors and other equipment. 

• Tooling and Equipment: Selecting, securing, and maintaining appropriate tools, fixtures, and grinding wheels for each task. 

• Machine Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on grinding equipment and ensuring proper functioning. 

• Safety Compliance: Following all safety procedures and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. 

• Reading and Interpretation: Interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches to understand specifications and tolerances. 

• Troubleshooting: Identifying and addressing any issues with the grinding process or equipment, such as tool wear or machine malfunctions. 

• Collaboration: Working with other team members to optimize production processes and ensure efficient workflow. 

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Skills: Knowledge of various grinding machines, precision measuring instruments, and blueprint reading. 
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials, and working in a standing position for extended periods. 
• Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy are crucial for ensuring parts meet quality standards. 
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to machine operation or part quality. 
• Safety Awareness: Adherence to all safety protocols and procedures. 
• Communication: Effective communication with team members and supervisors.
