Position Overview
As a Technician at Performance Wise, you play a crucial role in delivering high-quality repair and maintenance services for vehicles. Upholding our core values of honesty, integrity, and professionalism, your responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all repairs meet our rigorous standards of quality and safety. You will be a key player in ensuring customer satisfaction by providing reliable and efficient service.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic and Repair:
Conduct Road Tests: Verify customer complaints by road testing vehicles and observing all gauges, speedometers, odometers, and overall vehicle performance. Document all issues observed during the road test.
Diagnose Issues: If a customer's complaint is verified, inspect and diagnose the problem within the authorized time frame. Seek additional authorization if more diagnostic time is required.
Perform Repairs: Carry out authorized repairs and services efficiently. If unfamiliar with specific repair procedures, use available resources such as Mitchell On Demand, Identifix, and Ford Technical Resource.
Preventive Maintenance: Perform comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) and document all findings and recommendations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Write Detailed Reports: Document findings related to customer complaints, including test readings such as fuel pressure, oil pressure, and voltage. Write up all repairs and services performed, explaining why they were necessary.
Complete Paperwork: Ensure all paperwork is accurately completed and returned to the shop foreman, including printouts and additional documentation supporting your findings.
Parts Management: Verify that all parts are correct before installation and confirm that all necessary parts and labor are included for the repair.
Post-Repair Testing: Conduct road tests post-repair to verify that issues are resolved. Clean the vehicle, remove fingerprints and grease, and park it properly.
Additional Notes: Add any necessary post-repair notes to the work order, including test readings and observations for the service writer.
Final Check: Submit the keys, completed repair orders, and supporting documents to the shop foreman for quality control.
Internal Collaboration:
Communication: Maintain clear and proactive communication with the shop foreman and other team members regarding repair progress and any delays.
Resource Utilization: Utilize all available resources for repairs and diagnostics, including technical manuals and online resources.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues that arise during the repair process, updating the shop foreman as necessary.
Expected Practices and Accountability
Punctuality: Arrive on time and be ready to work 10 minutes before the shift starts. Shifts are typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break.
Professionalism: Maintain clean clothing and good personal hygiene. Conduct yourself professionally and courteously.
Integrity: Never sell unnecessary services or parts. Report any accidental damage or unavoidable issues to the shop foreman immediately.
Work Quality: Perform all repairs to the specifications outlined in repair manuals and instructions. Ensure that all work areas are clean, organized, and free of clutter.
Equipment Use: Familiarize yourself with all shop tools and equipment, and report any equipment failures or safety concerns to the shop foreman or manager immediately. Return tools clean and to their proper place.
Note: The responsibilities listed above are not all-encompassing and may evolve based on business needs and operational requirements. Additional tasks may be assigned by the General Manager or other members of management to support the overall objectives of the service department.
Performance Metrics
Comeback Repairs: The number of repair comebacks due to technician faults.
Billable Hours: Revenue generating hours completed every week
Efficiency: The time spent on repair tickets versus time in shop
Productivity: A percentage of billable hours and a predetermined expectation of hours.
Hours of Work
Your standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility is required, and there may be occasions when you need to stay later to address extraordinary circumstances or accommodate customer needs. You are entitled to a one-hour lunch break during your shift.
Exempt Status Clause
This position is classified as not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) due to the flat-rate pay structure. Compensation is based on a predetermined rate for each repair or service, rather than hourly wages.

Flexibility in schedule adjustments may be necessary to accommodate business needs.
