Overview
The Food Program Manager prepares and cooks breakfast and lunch for 30 students every school day, in addition to overseeing and implement all aspects of our food service.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate food service operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Become a certified Food Protection Manager through a short online course, paid for by the school.
• Coordinate with the Executive Director on projects related to menu design, program development, and food service enhancements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen.
• Cultivate a warm and friendly kitchen environment where students and staff feel comfortable coming to get food, requesting alternative foods when necessary, and suggesting new recipe ideas.
• Maintain an effective system to using up food before it expires, ordering ingredients for upcoming meals, taking inventory, and eliminating food waste.
• Work with the Executive Director to learn all of the rules of the National School Lunch Program and maintain an up-to-date knowledge about all procedures relating to these requirements.
• Follow USDA recipes, serving sizes, and meal recording meticulously.

Skills

• Cooking and baking many types of foods.
• Comprehensive knowledge about food safety, further supplemented by the Food Protection Officer training course.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to interact with both teenagers and staff in a way that promotes a positive culture around food.
