The Mental Health Therapist will have experience with conducting individual, group, and family therapy with mental health and/or substance abuse for diverse populations (ethnic/gender/race/etc.). Must be able to use a combination of clinical mental health and human development principles, methods, diagnostic procedures, treatment plans, and other psychotherapeutic techniques, to
develop an understanding of personal problems, to do treatment goals, and to plan actions reflecting the client’s interests, abilities, aptitudes and health needs as these are related to personal-social-emotional concerns, educational progress and occupations and careers.

Location: On-Site (Charlotte, NC)

Responsibilities/Duties:
1. Provides counseling (individual/group/family), and/or psychotherapy to substance abuse clients and
families as appropriate to the position;
a. May prepares treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care programs;
b. Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.
2. Collects data about patients through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational
techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach
or referral to other specialists.
3. Consults with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the
performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required.
4. Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for patients or clients in a crisis
condition and for those with serious disturbance problems.
5. Provide strategies for relapse prevention, which incorporate community and social supports;
6. Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used; changes method and degree of therapy when
indicated.
7. Establishes and maintains case files, referrals, and other related documents for the treatment of clients.
8. Consults with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals in relation to patient/client records,
rights, and responsibilities.
9. May provide formal teaching, consultation, and in-service training to relevant professionals in
immediate and proper handling of and/or referral of a variety of matters.
10. Flexible schedule that will allot for clinician to be available evening times to accommodate clientele
being served.
11. Any other service-related assigned tasks.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:
1. Certified clinical supervisor (CCS) means an individual who is certified as such by the North Carolina
Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board.
2. Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS)" means an individual who is licensed as such by the
North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board.
a. Certified alcohol and drug counselor means an individual who is certified as such by the North Carolina
Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board.
3. Licensed clinician means an individual with clinical licensure awarded by the State of North Carolina,
as a physician, licensed psychologist, licensed psychological associate, licensed clinical social worker,
licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, or licensed clinical addictions
specialist.
a. "Licensed clinician" also includes an individual with clinical licensure and certification as a certified clinical
nurse specialist in psychiatric mental health advanced practice, or a certified nurse practitioner in psychiatric
mental health advanced practice.
4. Licensed Clinical Mental Health counselor (LCMHC) means a counselor who is licensed as such by the
North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors.
