Summary:  A Physician Assistant (PA) provides patient care under the supervision and direction of a Physician. The Physician Assistant examines patients, prescribes medications, and orders diagnostic tests. The Physician Assistant acts independently, as well as part of a collaborative team to gather patients’ medical history, determine diagnoses, and prepare, implement, and measure effectiveness of treatment and care plans. 

Essential Functions:

• Assist Physicians with examinations.
• Develop and implement patient care plans and treatment.
• Order laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Interpret test results.
• Prescribe medicine and medical interventions.
• Assist in providing acute and chronic illness care to patients.
• Inform and educate family members on the condition of patients.
• Counsel patients on preventative health practices.
• Provide clinical direction and leadership to healthcare provider team.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Current license to practice medicine in California; required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification; required.
• Board-certified or Board eligible; preferred.
• To be in good standing with Medical Board of California.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced environmentally controlled medical office environment.
• Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, government officials, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public.

Physical Demands:

·         Frequent sitting, writing, typing, grasping and speaking.

·         Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying.

·         Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.

·         Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copy and fax machine and phone.
