About Ten16 Recovery Network

At Ten16, we believe that recovery is not just possible—it’s powerful. For over 40 years, we’ve walked alongside individuals and families affected by substance use, helping them reclaim their lives through hope, purpose, and connection. As a behavioral health nonprofit serving mid-Michigan, we are proud to be a leader in community-based recovery services, supporting people wherever they are on their journey.

Now, as our longtime CFO prepares for retirement, we are seeking a strategic and values-driven leader to carry forward our mission through strong financial stewardship, people-centered leadership, and operational excellence. The new CFO will be hired in advance of the retirement date to allow for a period of structured knowledge transfer, mentoring, and onboarding with the outgoing CFO. This is a unique opportunity to step into the role with the benefit of institutional insight and leadership continuity.

Why This Role Matters

Ten16 Recovery Network seeks a mission-driven and emotionally intelligent leader to serve as CFO. This role combines financial strategy with responsibility for human resources, fostering both the fiscal health and cultural integrity of the organization. The ideal candidate will be both a steward of financial resources and a champion of our people. This is not just a job—it’s an extraordinary opportunity to bring your expertise to a respected nonprofit, helping to empower individuals and families affected by substance use disorders while also supporting the people who serve them. This role is perfect for someone who is motivated by purpose, inspired by structure, an accomplished and goal-oriented leader, and a steady, trusted partner and advisor.

What You’ll Do

Executive Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to shape organizational strategy, sustainability, and health.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration and a culture of accountability, transparency, and mission alignment.

Financial Stewardship

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting with a focus on long-term sustainability.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for Leadership and the Board.
  • Oversee complex grant accounting structure, revenue cycle management, behavioral health billing, external audits, and GAAP compliance.

HR Strategy & People Leadership

  • Supervise the HR Coordinator and oversee Ten16’s human resources systems, policies, and practices.
  • Guide talent strategy including hiring and onboarding practices, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Foster a value-based culture that prioritizes staff wellbeing and leadership development.

Operations & Risk Oversight

  • Oversee vendor contracts, insurance, and facility operations to ensure safe, efficient daily operations.
  • Maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and funder requirements.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit finance and administration, preferably in behavioral health or human services.
  • Experience working with complex funding streams (grants, cost reimbursement contracts, fee-for-service lines of business, third party insurance, etc.).
  • Strong accounting skills with demonstrated experience in accrual and nonprofit accounting.
  • Knowledge of essential HR principles and functions, nonprofit compliance.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Passion for mission-driven work and alignment with Ten16’s values.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Generous PTO, paid holidays, and health benefits
  • Retirement contributions and professional development opportunities
  • A supportive, mission-focused workplace that values both excellence and compassion
  • A phased transition with the outgoing CFO to ensure continuity and shared learning
