We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to oversee financial transactions, project accounting, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial OversightManage and supervise all aspects of the company’s accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, invoicing, and general ledger activities.
Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with a focus on accuracy and timeliness. Perform industry comparison and align spend with strategic company growth measures
Maintain clear and transparent financial records to ensure compliance with regulatory and The FAR, particularly Part 31 and CAS.
Help establish and manage shareholder distributions.
Prepare business annual tax filings and Annual Overhead Rate according to FAR Part 31
Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with departmental heads, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Prepare financial forecasts to guide short-term and long-term decision-making.
Analyze budget variances and recommend actionable solutions to optimize financial performance. (Cost Saving, tax savings, etc)
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as industry-specific financial requirements.
Design and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
Assess financial risks and propose mitigation strategies to protect the company’s interests.
Work closely with the executive team to provide financial insights and support strategic decisions.
Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability of each department
Monitor financial performance of large-scale civil engineering projects, including infrastructure developments and public works.
Understand and manage the financial implications of construction contracts, including change orders, retainage, Prime and Subconsultant invoicing, and progress billing.
Stay updated on industry trends and economic conditions that could impact the company’s financial health.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation is strongly preferred.
CDA, CEPA, MSA
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in financial management or accounting, preferably in Civil Engineering, construction, or related industries.
Proven track record of managing complex budgets and financial operations.
Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Ajera, ADP Total Source, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to make data-driven decisions.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills to liaise effectively with diverse teams.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
