Job Title: Buyer

Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Position Status: Salary Exempt

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Buyer is responsible for making purchasing decisions based on identifying and evaluating

potential suppliers to source and procure the materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create purchase orders: based on system suggestions and/or requisitioner and

identifying and evaluating potential suppliers to source and procure the materials

• Purchase order management; create and manage purchase orders to ensure timely

delivery of goods and services

• Negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers to agree on prices, quantities, and

delivery schedules

• Maintaining agreed upon lead time and ensuring on time delivery

• Work with the purchasing manager: to execute procurement strategies

• Prepare reports: on purchasing activities, including cost analysis and supplier

performance

• Works cross-functionally between buying and operations

• Identify suppliers and negotiate terms and conditions

• Ensure all purchasing documents are complete and accurate such as purchase orders,

invoices, and delivery notes

• Resolves supplier quality problems, supplier invoices and other documentation

discrepancies

• Initiates and facilitates cost savings projects to achieve cost improvement goals

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Business English, clear verbal communication, excellent redaction, and Bilingual English –

Spanish are desirable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree is desirable; or equivalent to 3 years of experience as a buyer
• Familiarity with ERP systems preferably Epicor.
