Marketing and Development Officer
Position Type: ¾ Time (Approximately 30 hours/week)
Compensation: Salary | $27,000 - $31,000/yr - commensurate with experience
Overview
The Marketing and Development Officer at the Manhattan Arts Center (MAC) is a creative and community-minded communicator responsible for sharing MAC’s story, expanding our visibility, and supporting fundraising efforts. This role blends marketing, development, and event planning to engage new audiences, strengthen donor relationships, and promote the growth of MAC’s programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Marketing (Approx. 15 hours/week; more during events)
- Create engaging content for social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok)
- Design print and digital materials using Canva (Adobe Creative Suite a plus)
- Photograph and edit images for promotional and storytelling purposes
- Tailor marketing strategies to reach target audiences: families, students, military, seniors, and more
- Track and analyze social media and website metrics to assess performance, identify trends, and inform data-driven marketing strategies and content planning
- Build partnerships to enhance MAC’s visibility within the community
- Produce posters, programs, video board slides, seasonal brochures, and other materials
- Write and distribute press releases; update local event calendars and community boards
- Maintain a balanced marketing focus across education, theatre, and special events
Development (Approx. 5 hours/week)
- Expand and manage Friends of MAC memberships through targeted outreach
- Strengthen and grow Family Memberships with deeper engagement
- Lead strategic fundraising efforts such as Grow Green Match Day
- Plan and host two annual Friends of MAC social events
Event Planning (Approx. 10 hours/week)
- Maintain updated event listings on the MAC website, CVB, social media, and local outlets
- Represent MAC at 2–4 key community events each year
- Support planning and logistics for MAC’s major annual events, including:
- Back-to-School Kickoff (August)
- ARTini Annual Fundraiser
- Christmas Market (December)
- MAC & Cheese Arts & Music Festival
- Summer Gameshow Fundraiser
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Team player with a passion for the arts
Preferred:
- Degree in marketing, communications, or related field
- Experience with photography, videography, and graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite)
- Proficiency in social media management and trend analysis
- Background in the arts, theatre, or nonprofit organizations
