Position Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive team member responsible for both strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the agency’s finance and growth. This role will be on-site daily, working closely with the billing, accounting, and administrative teams to keep financial systems running smoothly, while also driving improvements in structure, efficiency, and compliance.

This is not a title-only leadership role — we’re looking for someone who will roll up their sleeves, lead by example, and take ownership of both the big picture and the day-to-day financial engine of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership (CFO Scope)

• Lead all aspects of financial operations, including:

  • Accounting, AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll, and cash flow

  • QuickBooks management and monthly close processes

  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

  • Oversight of AHCCCS and DDD billing processes and revenue cycle

• Ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance

• Serve as financial liaison to CEO, board, and external stakeholders

Operational Oversight

• Oversee key operational teams (billing, administrative support, tech, and HR systems)

• Improve internal systems, workflows, and process efficiency

• Monitor service delivery data to support program leaders in maintaining compliance with DDD standards

• Identify and manage operational risks proactively

Leadership & Culture

• Be present and accessible to staff daily as a leader and mentor

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and mission alignment

• Collaborate closely with the CEO and other department heads to achieve strategic goals

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a CFO, COO, Controller, or senior finance/operations leader — ideally in healthcare, human services, or a Medicaid-funded environment

• Strong working knowledge of Arizona DDD and AHCCCS requirements a plus

• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and day-to-day financial processes

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Must be comfortable in a high-accountability, in-person work culture

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working within a DDD provider agency in Arizona

• Familiarity with HCBS programs and Medicaid billing processes

• CPA, MBA, or related credential (Required)
