GENERAL SUMMARY:

Cut to Length Line (CTL) is a metal processing operation made of multiple individual machines. Typical CTL may include uncoiler, straightener, leveler, puncher, shear, stacker, conveyor belts and other auxiliary equipment.  Cut to Length Line operator is responsible for setting up and operating each component of the CTL processing equipment in a manner that is safe, meets all quality criteria and productivity goals.  Specifically, the CTL 3 operator is responsible for cutting material per customer request from material that typically has holes punched in it.  In addition, this position will be required to work effectively with all co-workers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:

  • Will be required to efficiently set up and operate Cut to Length Line to produce quality product in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for cutting and leveling aluminum, stainless steel and Galvan.
  • Will be required to meet Safety, Quality and Productivity Goals for each Job.
  • Will be required to plan all daily activities on CTL ahead of time for best performance.
  • CTL operator will be required to effectively identify any imperfections in the metal.
  • Must able to be multi task and successfully oversee entire CTL operation.
  • May be required to participate in training additional CTL operators.
  •  Responsible for housekeeping of the CTL and surrounding areas at all times.
  •  Perform daily inspections prior to the start of each operating shift.
  • Responsible to keep safety above all else when operating equipment.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification, Licenses, Registration:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of experience with tooling and machine setup as related to CNC cutting machines.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to read a tape measure and other measuring instruments.
  • Must be a detail-oriented person.
  •  Familiar with modern manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • Ability and willingness to meet high-pressure deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of math and geometry.
  •  Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with other people.
  • Basic computer skills, preferably in Axiom software. 
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to work in standing/walking position in excess of eight hours a day.
  • Demonstrate good eye/hand coordination.
  • Perform repetitive motions for eight hours of a day. 
  • Must also be able to bend, squat, reach and lift throughout entire shift.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperature and other elements in the shop area.
  • Must be able to maintain a drug-free work environment in a safety-sensitive position.
