Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as directed by the surgeon.
- Secure verification of benefits and pre-certification authorization or utilize company’s verification and authorization team to secure.
- Schedule patients’ surgeries as per the surgeon’s documented booking sheet.
- Schedule physicians, co-surgeons, or surgical assistants within practice management scheduling system.
- Keep patients informed of surgical scheduling status and timeframes.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative information to patients.
- Must have open communication with colleagues and keep the team aware of issues and concerns that impact the pre-cert process.
- Minimize cancellations and maximize efficiency and throughput of patients’ surgical scheduling.
Skills and Experience:
- Positive and professional demeanor.
- Attention to detail.
- Minimum three years of experience as a surgery scheduler for a medical office or hospital.
- Basic understanding of the use of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology related to pain management, spine surgery, brain surgery, plastics, or hand surgery is preferred.
- Basic understanding of types of insurance such as Major Medical, Personal Injury, Workers Compensation.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks, to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of eClinical Works (not a requirement)
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree a plus
