Job Description
This is a unique and dynamic position featuring a multitude of daily activities. It is primarily warehouse related work, but there is a field coordination component as well, with purchasing developed as experience is gained. Previous experience with an electrical contractor or at an electrical supply house would be beneficial due to parts names, but is not required. The work consists of the following;
- Order receipt and processing.
- A Project Manager or Foreman will provide a text, email or hardcopy material list of their order. Primarily materials, but occasionally may also include equipment.
- Order evaluation.
- You will evaluate the order to determine if it should be pulled from stock, ordered through a supplier, or both.
- Certain orders will require vendor quotes prior to purchasing. This will be primarily handled by the Project Manager, however this may be transitioned as experience warrants.
- Order fulfillment.
- After confirming if any warehouse materials are to be pulled and vendor quotes evaluated, the order will be entered into our purchasing system and forwarded to the appropriate vendor / supply house for fulfillment and delivery.
- Materials not delivered directly to the job-site are stored in our warehouse. You will receive these orders, verify the order matches the purchase order, is complete and not damaged, then warehouse the material in the designated area.
- Once we actually receive the materials we must "receive inventory" to allow Accounts Payable to pay for it. Generally, the order will go directly to the job site and the Foreman will send the packing slip by text or email, or deliver the hardcopy with their weekly paperwork. Alternatively, if delivered to the shop, the packing slip will be received with the order. In either case the loop is closed by delivering the packing slips to Accounts Payable.
- Warehouse organization.
- When projects demobilize, miscellaneous materials are returned to the shop. These materials must be organized and reviewed with the Project Manager to confirm if they are to be put into stock or returned to the vendor.
- Operating a forklift and pallet jack.
- Track tool and equipment inventory.
The coordinator component consists of the following;
- Maintain communication with project managers, office staff, and foremen.
- Ensure materials, tools and equipment are available or delivered as scheduled.
- Occasional material pick up and deliveries, and assisting field personal as directed.
- Occasional project site organization and maintenance.
The below qualities are indispensable to ensure success in this position;
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding as well as the ability to use hand tools is desirable.
- Takes direction well.
- Possess good communication skills. You will be communicating and coordinating with and between foreman, office staff and vendors. You must be forthright and ask questions whenever you have them.
- You must be in decent physical condition as there is some lifting and you will be on your feet often.
Compensation is based on experience. All successful candidates must have a clean and valid driver's license.
