Job Title: Punch Press Operator

Location: Carson, CA

Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM start) or 2nd Shift (2:30 PM start)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Pay Rate: $18–$25/hour DOE

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Punch Press Operator to join a high-performing metal stamping team. This role involves operating mechanical punch presses (10–75 ton) from manufacturers such as Bliss, Southbend, Johnson, and Komatsu, using materials like aluminum alloys, stainless steel, and copper. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in die setup, troubleshooting, and quality inspection in a precision-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operation:

• Work with setup technicians to install dies for punch press production (simple, compound, and progressive dies)

• Follow work instructions, job routers, and blueprints to ensure accurate part production

• Adjust feeds, speeds, and clearances for various materials to meet specifications

Maintenance & Team Support:

• Perform daily preventive maintenance and 6S tasks on dies and press equipment

• Cross-train on machines and processes to support team needs

• Communicate with leadership regarding any issues or improvements

Documentation & Compliance:

• Complete process control and maintenance logs in compliance with AS9100 standards

• Assist with root cause analysis for tooling or part defects

• Follow all safety guidelines and help maintain an organized, clean work area

Qualifications:

Required:

• 1+ years of punch press operating experience in aerospace, defense, or other precision environments

• Basic understanding of die components and blueprint reading (including GD&T)

• Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, and copper

• Familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 work environments

Preferred:

• Experience with mechanical presses such as Bliss, Southbend, or Komatsu

• Machining knowledge (e.g., surface grinder, manual mill/lathe)

• Forklift or overhead crane certification for die/material handling
