The accountant will oversee various accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting and contribute to the overall financial health of the company. This role requires someone with strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This position will work closely with the finance team to drive process improvements and maintain compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Flash Sales Report Preparation: Prepare the monthly flash sales report.
- Journal Entries Preparation & Posting: Prepare and post various journal entries for all facets of the balance sheet and income statement.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Capitalization Review: Review specific expense accounts to confirm there are no expenses that should have been capitalized by the company capitalization guidelines.
- Expense Analysis: Analyze expense variations compared to prior periods and budget, reclassing incorrect expenses as necessary.
- Commission Report Review: Run and review the commission report for accuracy, submitting it for approval in a timely manner.
- Monthly Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile inventory levels and ensure consistency with financial records.
- Bank Reconciliation: Run regular bank reports and perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile Accounts Receivable: Reconcile accounts receivable regularly, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Reconcile Accounts Payable and Purchased Receipts: Investigate and reconcile accounts payable and purchased receipts, ensuring that old or unprocessed items are addressed, and corresponding accruals are accurately processed for proper financial reporting.
- Dashboard Reporting: Prepare and present the financial dashboard to senior management, summarizing key financial metrics.
- Cash Forecasting: Oversee cash forecasting and ensure accurate tracking of cash flow needs.
- Oversee Cash Application Process: Ensure payments are correctly applied by the cash application specialist and monitor the overall cash application process.
- AR Collections: Make collection calls and send emails to follow up on outstanding receivables, ensuring timely collections.
- Headcount and Labor Reports: Maintain and analyze headcount reports, direct labor headcount, and overtime data to ensure alignment with company expectations and budgets.
- Sales Tax Preparation: Prepare and file sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Report Creation: Assist in the design and preparation of ad hoc and new reports as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or equivalent professional certification a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a senior accounting role, ideally within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting ERP software (Infor Visual experience a plus).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting and analysis.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working in a family-owned or closely held business environment is a plus.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to contribute to a team-oriented culture.
