Job Description
The Structural Steel Shop Lead is responsible for directing the work in the shop and involves ensuring that production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed.

Education: Training in welding, metal fabrication, or a related area.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in steel fabrication, welding.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or foreman role preferred.
- Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- A leader that thrives in a culture of development of the team, seeks challenges, responsibility and strives to exceed production goals.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to fabrication work, especially OSHA standards.
Leadership Skills:
- Experience effectively managing a team and overseeing shop operations.
- Ability to motivate and train team members.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to always conduct self in a professional manner and lead by example.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with project managers, staff, clients, and suppliers.
- Capability to provide clear instructions and feedback to team members.
- Keeps management team updated on a regular basis.
- Reports and addresses issues immediately and professionally.
Safety and Workmanship:
- Ability to ensure quality control throughout the fabrication process.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards in workmanship and safety.
Organizational Skills:
- Strong ability to maximize production outputs.
- Ability to delegate tasks and keep team accountable.
Computer Skills (optional but advantageous)
- Ability to learn and work with technical tools available: Tekla, Bluebeam.
Schedule Requirements:
- Open Shop at 5:30 am
- 60-70 Hour Work Week
- Weekend Work as Required
- Ability to work out of town as needed.
