City and Sea Group (CAS Group) is recruiting a Senior Contracts Manager to oversee contract formation, administration, and management services for projects within the power, energy, transportation, and maritime sectors.
The position is based in The Woodlands, TX. Travel to project locations in the US and internationally will be required.
Objective of the Role
The Contract Manager will ensure effective commercial management of contract packages from formation through close out, in accordance with best practices and the company’s/Clients’ requirements. Overall objectives include:
- Effective implementation of change management processes to ensure lower Total Installed Cost philosophy is maintained.
- All commercial dealings managed to the highest ethical standards.
- Overall commercial guidance and monitoring of contractor(s) performance.
- Management of variations and participating/leading negotiations in connection with resolution of variations.
- Providing responses to contractual/commercial issues both internally within the team and externally to the contractor(s).
- The primary project on which the Contracts Manager will initially be working is a gas-fired power generation facility, along with associated infrastructure for LNG.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree (preferably in Engineering or Business). Master Degree or JD a plus.
- 10+ years of overall experience, with 5+ years prior experience working as Contract Manager/Administrator on EPC Contracts (construction of major infrastructure projects in oil & gas, energy, transportation, and/or marine sectors)
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to negotiate contract terms effectively and strong analytical skills for assessing contract risks and benefits.
- Proficient with office computer applications (MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Professional qualification / certification such as Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) added advantage.
- Authorized to work in the USA.
- English fluency required. Spanish language a plus.
Key Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Support contract formation and negotiation.
- Track insurance and bond validity.
- Interface with outside counsel/client counsel in resolution of contractual matters.
- Administer assigned contract(s) while maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
- Coordinate with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, contract performance, contract administration, and other major matters.
- Provide leadership in resolving contractor claims and participating in negotiations with contractor, as necessary.
- Provide project claims avoidance and mitigation advice, as necessary.
- Participate in negotiations with subcontractors during the award process and administers complex contract changes through negotiation with contractor personnel until an agreed settlement is reached.
- Represent Company and its clients in contractual discussions and administers information programs to ensure mutual understanding of contract terms and conditions.
- Prepare periodic status reports for management.
- Manage and nurtures client relationships.
- Support business development activities to drive development of new client relationships and opportunities.
- Oversee the procurement processes.
- Manage review, scoring, and ranking of bids.
- Manage preparation of bid review report.
- Support internal team in negotiations between CAS Group and its clients (contract review, etc.)
- Additional tasks as necessary
