Job Summary:

The Revenue Officer will provide exceptional customer service, perform data entry tasks, and offer taxpayer support for local, business license, and sales and use tax online systems via phone, email, and written correspondence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound phone calls to assist taxpayers.
  • Provide online support for taxpayers in a clear, concise manner.
  • Correspond through email, responding to inquiries and providing information.
  • Meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned, based on business needs.
  • Available Monday - Friday Fulltime - Occasional weekends as wells overtime periodically
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an office environment with a focus on heavy inbound/outbound phone calls.
  • At least 3 years of customer service experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of business tax requirements for Alabama, California, Louisiana, Georgia, and Texas is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both customers and coworkers.
  • Strong proficiency in data entry, including a typing speed of 10,000+ keystrokes.
  • Ability to proofread correspondence and identify/correct errors.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting city/county tax ordinances.
  • Able to perform basic math computations using an online calculator or creating calculations in spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve routine issues independently, following supervisor’s guidance.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with a moderate noise level.
  • The employee will work at an individual workstation, using a telephone and computer.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain seated for extended periods.
  • Regular use of a computer and other office machinery, such as printers and copy machines.
  • Occasional movement around the office.
  • Frequent communication via telephone.
