Certified Medical Assistant for Opioid Treatment Program

Position: Certified Medical Assistant

Location: Kenai, Alaska

Organization: Narcotic Drug Treatment Center, Inc.

Type: Full-Time

Narcotic Drug Treatment Center, Inc., a leading Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will support our healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to individuals struggling with opioid use disorder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in patient intake and assessments, gathering medical history and current health information.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and providing education about treatment processes.
  • Administer TB tests and treatments as directed by healthcare providers, including monitoring vital signs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CRF confidentiality regulations.
  • Ability to operate a phone system, fax, email, scan and complete insurance forms and billing services
  • Complete urine drug screens as required
  • Operate an electronic health record
  • Coordinate appointments, follow-ups, and referrals for patients to ensure continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement patient-centered care plans.
  • Educate patients about opioid use disorder, treatment options, and recovery resources.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in addiction treatment or mental health.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping others.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
