Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Highway Civil Engineer / Construction Manager to join our team at The Confidence Group. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of highway and roadway projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and oversee the construction of highways, roadways, bridges, and other related infrastructure projects.
- Manage projects from beginning to end.
- Manage personnel who work on construction projects.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, TxDot, and industry standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project conditions and provide engineering solutions.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, and other data to plan and design projects.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, environmental policies, and sustainability practices.
- Utilize engineering software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools for project development.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
- Stay updated with advancements in highway engineering technology and best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a civil engineer in heavy highway or transportation infrastructure projects. (REQUIRED)
- Strong knowledge of roadway design, pavement engineering, drainage systems, and traffic control measures.
- Experience Managing a team.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and other relevant tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documents.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and project management abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and requirements is a plus. TxDOT knowledge (Required)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (REQUIRED).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Construction Management experience (preferred)
- Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in heavy highway construction, roadway design, or transportation engineering.
